How: create your own free buddy icon

Buddy icons are pictures of small avatar AOL Instant Messenger adds that represent personalization to a user in the Chat Windows users add.

Create the icon

Open an image editor of your choice.

If you create a symbol from a saved file, open the file.

Create a new document and give the pixel dimensions 48 width 48 pixels high.

This is the maximum size for an AIM Buddy icon.

Draw a picture in your icon in the newly created document.

When you create an icon from an image, either crop part of the image fit the document 48 by 48 pixels and copy it to the new document, or you can customize the entire image is up to 48 x 48 pixels and copy it to the new document.

Save the image if adjust finished as file type "Gif" or "Jpg"

Your buddy window, and navigate to "settings"

This can be different depending on version of the target, you use Some versions, see "Settings" from the menu "Edit" or "Menu".

Select the tab "Expressions" raised the "Settings" window.

Unexpected

Search the directory to find where

You the icon that you previously made stored, and then "Open" If you chose.
